Conference: Book a place now for the UK annual CfRC event “How should we respond to Britain’s Personal Debt Crisis?” on 11th March 2014 in Birmingham

The Centre for Responsible Credit's Annual Conference 2014

How should we respond to Britain's personal debt crisis?

Britain is in the grip of a personal debt crisis.Growth, largely the product of a further up-swing in credit expansion, is becoming divorced from living standards.Wages are falling in real terms as the cost of rent; fuel; food, and transport continue to rise. Welfare reforms are hitting the poorest hard. The number of unemployed, although falling, remains around 700,000 higher than in 2008.The prospect of a rise in mortgage rates looms large, raising concerns about a future mortgage repossession crisis.

Join us in Birmingham on 11th March to discuss how to build an effective response to these challenges at the national and local levels.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Cllr John Cotton, Cabinet member for social cohesion and equalities, Birmingham City Council
  • Jenny Driscoll, Senior Associate, Financial Conduct Authority
  • Professor Karen Rowlingson, University of Birmingham
  • Alison Seabrooke, Chief Executive, Community Development Foundation
  • Peter Tutton, Head of Policy, Step Change
  • Angela Clements, Chief Executive, CitySave Credit Union

The conference will bring together delegates from a wide range of agencies involved in the design and delivery of policy and provision at both the national and local levels, and will provide an opportunity to develop our networking and campaigning work as attention starts to turn towards next year's General Election.
