Dear Commissioner
Thank you very much for yesterday's fruitful discussions in Luxembourg.
One of the key points was of course the revision of the consumer acquis and the relationship with the mutual recognition principle.
You informed us that the Legal Service is competent to clarify any interpretation issues.
May I take the liberty to forward enclosed an updated ULC working document on this crucial issue.
We had sent an earlier version to your Services ( G. Abbamonte) with the kind request to get the Commission view on our analysis.
We thank you for your attention and trust that the Commission's considered view on the meaning of mutual recognition for complete/minimal harmonization directives versus the country-of-origin principle will be made public in the interest of legal certainty for all stakeholders.
Sincerely yours
Bob Schmitz
