[This session will have country representatives seated like in a Parliamentary hearing. A podium moderator will initiate the debate and conduct questioning to which the wider conference audience will participate through the use of electronic voting devices]

Plenary sessions held on Friday Sept14th starting at 10:30am.

DESCRIPTION:

Our first day will host a kind of stakeholder parliament with reports from our home countries defining policies on responsible credit. On the podium we will have representatives from 20 countries from all over the world. Eight countries held a domestic pre-conference. While Germany and the US will have already been presented in the introduction we will have another six exemplary reports of between 5 and 8 minutes each on national discussions from these conferences. It is important to note that this session is not the right place to present organisations. This should be done in the written statement or where appropriate when contributing to the single issues in the workshops. All should keep in mind that they will represent their country and not only their organisation.

In order to avoid too many presentations two members of the steering committee will direct the questioning and help focus on the specific issues of the various countries. We hope that most of these countries will already be represented on the Internet so that we can focus on clarifications and highlights.

QUESTIONS:

All are invited to give us this information by broadly answering the following points and describing:
a) their conference on responsible credit - where appropriate
b) what are the most pressing problems in credit and debt in theiryour country?
c) Who is active in coping with these problems?
d) What kind of solutions have been developed?
e) What they expect from an international network for their own country?

All should follow a parliamentary type Hearing to inform us about concerns, actions and successes. The parliamentary approach will be underlined by an electronic voting device which sorted according to sector and origin will provide information on different countries and allow the audience to express opinions on various issues discussed on the podium.

Thus those on the podium are expected to provide us with information prior to the conference in electronic form relating to features and details of their respective country for which we provide pre-defined answers which can be selected according to their degree of appropriateness. As far as opinions are concerned, these will be requested from all conference participants through voting with the voting pads provided.

The results will either be immediately displaced on the screen or to save time later on. The answers will be sorted according to the basic criteria of country of origin, background (supplier -banks and others - consumer or social organisation, science), age group (over and under 40), and gender, which everybody has to insert first. This same procedure will also be used with respect to the issues of the conference on Saturday in a special session.
