Conference: European Consumer Day 2014 organised by the EESC will take place in Greece on 14 March. Agenda available below

European Consumer Day

"Consumer protection and social inclusion in times of crisis"

14 March 2014

City Hall of Thessaloniki, Greece

The 16th edition of the European Consumer Day will be held on 14 March 2014. This time on the agenda will be a very important topic – "Consumer protection and social inclusion in times of crisis".

Even in times of crisis consumers have their rights. Those rights are legally binding and even a long-lasting crisis cannot be used as an excuse for the lack of enforcement. What challenges lie ahead of policy makers in the field of consumer protection? Are enforcement bodies efficient enough or are consumer rights just a mirage in those difficult times? How to fight over-indebtedness and financial exclusion?

Those fundamental questions will be asked during the conference. Just two months before the European elections, the stakeholders will have once again a possibility to discuss consumer policy key issues with government's and EU institutions' representatives.

Join us in Thessaloniki on 14 March 2014. Please register on line by 7 March 2014.

City Hall of Thessaloniki
1 Vasileos Georgiou Street
54640 Thessaloniki - Greece

For budgetary reasons, the Committee will not be able to pay transport costs and other expenses but participation in the event is free.
