ECRC Stakeholder conference: On 6 June 2013, German partner iff is holding its annual international financial services conference in Hamburg – Sign up now!

More than 170 participants from 10 countries have already registered to attend the conference – There is a keen interest in the issues of the international conference on 6 and 7 June 2013 with the overarching theme of "Are we on the Road to Needs-Orientated Products?"

Numerous representatives of consumer organizations, the vzbv, debt counselling agencies and representatives from banks and insurance companies - the immediate stakeholders in the field of financial services - have confirmed their participation at this year’s conference already. We also look forward to the participation of staff and experts from other stakeholders such as the federal ministries of Justice  and of Consumer protection, the financial supervisor BaFin, and other organisations such as Finanztest as well as numerous media representatives. The conference media partner is NDR Info.


The first day of the conference, supported by ECRC partners, will contain discussions with an international focus on topics including bankruptcy law in the financial crisis, general financial advice and the role of NGOs, discussion of a general ban on commissions, European models of private old-age pensions and the new role of consumer protection in the field of supervision.

On Thursday 6.6.2013, the sessions in the main auditorium will see discussions translated from and nto English:

  • Providers in Transition – needs-orientated Products?
  • General Financial Advice provided by NGOs
  • Models of private old-age Pensions in Europe
  • New Role of Consumer Protection in the field of Supervision

The large number of participants this year shows again the important role this event plays in getting the different stakeholders together to talk about the pressing issues to make financial services fair and sustainable. We look forward to discussing these current issues and problems together with you in detail throughout the 23 plenaries and workshops planned.
