Responding to the Financial Crisis in our Communities, 26th September, London
This year’s UK Centre for Responsible Credit Conference will focus how we can help our local communities to respond to the financial crisis – seeking to forge more effective partnerships between mainstream financial services providers, local authorities, housing providers, debt advice agencies, and community and economic development groups to ensure that we support local economic growth in our most deprived areas and provide effective help to over-indebted households and financially excluded groups.
The conference will bring together over 200 delegates from a wide range of agencies involved in the design and delivery of relevant services at both the national and local levels, and will act as a showcase for best practice in local partnership working.
Sessions will be developed along three main themes:
Supporting effective partnerships - between banks and community economic development agencies, including how banks can help small businesses and the third sector to engage more effectively in public service delivery.
Dealing with change – with sessions on the implications of welfare reform for financial inclusion and personal debt, and the changing landscape of money advice provision.
Addressing exclusion – showcasing best practice in supporting lower income households and disadvantaged groups to gain access and use appropriate financial products and examples of successful local campaigns against high cost and illegal lenders.
