Trento Meeting on European Social Contract Law and Lifetime Contracts September 25, 2009
The first seminar on European Social Longterm Contracts (Lifetime contracts) will be held in Trento on September 25, 2009. The seminar will group about 10 to 15 persons from presently 8 states and serves mainly four purposes:

- Discuss how the three areas of law: labour law, consumer credit law and tenancy law ("lifetime" or "social longterm" contracts) can contribute to the general principles of contract law (with regard to the Draft Common Frame of Reference)
- Provide papers for a first publication of an e-book outlining the issue in spring 2009.
- Organise a proposal within the frame of the seventh EU Research Programme FP7

A multicultural approach will be used. The presentations will be made in German, French and English. We will organise the necessary translations by ourselves. All papers will also be available (also) in the mother tongue of the author. The contributions could be along three dimensions:
  • by national cultures,
  • by contract area (including general European contract law),
  • by overlapping issues (i.e. legal: termination or social: lifetime problems).
In the annexed paper open for discussion the idea as well as the possible methodology, areas and scope of research are enumerated. The limited access Website www.eusoco.org will soon host literature and papers on longterm contracts etc. (interim see responsible-credit.net "European Social Contracts").
