| EU CONSUMER CONSULTATION – ECRC will try to ensure that the consumer view of the crisis is heard and taken into account at the forthcoming European Commission meeting. The Commission, present through a speaker at the ECRC’s international conference on November 13 should be aware of the London Declaration already. Let’s hope it is discussed! |
On 8/9 December, the European Consumer Consultative Group (ECCG) will hear from the Commission on the "European Commission role in banking/financial crisis" (item 2 in agenda below).
Certain ECCG members will not simply await the Commission presentation, but will take a pro-active initiative by requesting in advance that the Commission responds to the “London Declaration” adopted at the Responsible Credit Conference on 13/14 November organised by Inclusion and the European Coalition for Responsible Credit. This conference called for more consumer representation in proposing solutions to the financial crisis. Many consumer representatives attended, some of which are part of the ECCG.
The London Declaration will be sent in advance to DG SANCO requesting a comment at the ECCG meeting.
